Sketching in the woods 1If you’ve ever read my blog before, you’ll know that I often find objects of inspiration while hiking through the woods and abandoned spaces. This latest painting was no different. On a beautiful fall afternoon I loaded my backpack up with drawing tools and headed off for the woods. I am honored to announce that a few Absolute paintings will grace the walls of birthplace and childhood home of famous 20th century painter, Edward Hopper. Now a non-profit art center and museum, the Edward Hopper House holds exhibits and informative courses for the public. The main gallery will house this year’s annual Small Matters of Great Importance exhibit, in which will be the location of 3 of my Absolute pieces. Small Matters of Great Importance is an annual juried exhibition of small works of no more than 12″ x 12″ inches. Read on for more information.

After hearing some positive feedback from the attendees, I was asked to post an article going over some of the information so they could share it with their other creative friends. Creativity isn’t just a personality trait. It’s a skill set that can be engineered and redesigned to help in all areas of your life. Much like math skills or literary skills, creativity can be a tool belt for unique ways of problem solving!

I remember taking field trips as a child to The Center of Science And Industry (COSI). The long bus ride seemed to take days, but we were always rewarded with a kid’s museum built for fun, tinkering, and science. Even as an adult I am in total wonder of this place. Its magical atmosphere seems almost otherworldly with creative possibilities.

I imagined a day when I was an adult and I could make such splendid futuristic things…
