It’s a real pleasure to announce that  2 of my paintings will be on display at George Billis Gallery in Los Angeles in May. I’ve been connected with the gallery for a couple years now, showing a few pieces in their Culver City, LA gallery as well as a few in their home gallery located in Chelsea, NYC.

These pieces will be included in a group exhibition between May 19th – June 23rd, 2018. An opening reception will be held Saturday May 19, 5-8pm. If you’re in the LA area, I recommend checking out the gallery. Read more below.

“Absolute: Nostalgia”, Reaching Inward Through Newest Painting

“Absolute: Nostalgia” (framed), Oil paint on reclaimed black walnut. 18 1/2” x 17 5/8”. 11.27.17

Absolute: Nostalgia is a deep painting from a deep place. Three ginkgo biloba leaves, yellowed and fallen, arch their way down the center of a walnut panel. Flanking the ginkgo are a set of baby’s breath flowers angling in from the lower right corner. Tucked neatly at the bottom of the foliage is a small black card. Draping down from the top are clusters of vibrant red-orange berries; fruit from the green hawthorn tree. Subtle color changes to the wood grain show a neatly vertical composition. A gradient of rectangles  radiate from the center. Watch how it was made and see more images below the article.

Absolute: Rest is an oil painting on reclaimed Honduran Mahogany. A black handmade envelope is painted above a translucent geometric ‘X’. On top of the envelope is a leaf from the ZZ plant. Its green flesh is held down by a smooth stone. Each of these elements are symbols taken from the short story, Bricks to Stones. You can watch how it was made below and read the full story talking about this piece here.
