Awarded 2022 GCAC Support for Professional Artists Grant

Awarded 2022 GCAC Support for Professional Individual Artists Grant

by Daric Gill

It is my pleasure to announce that I’ve been awarded a 2022 Greater Columbus Arts Council Support for Professional Artists: Individuals Grant. This year I have a few exhibitions that overlap in the fall. The need for lighter, hyper-accurate, & more professionally self-reliant tools is paramount. This funding will help provide materials & equipment that will be adding to or replacing tools that are much-used/lower-end. In addition, a portion of this funding will be used to create a piece that will be on display at the Center For Science and Industry (COSI) museum later this year. I’m super grateful to The Greater Columbus Arts Council! Thank you so much!

Special Thanks to the City of Columbus & Its Councilmembers.

I am grateful for your support. Thank you!

2021 Looks Good! Awarded Grant To Help Streamline Precision In Workshop & Studio

Awarded Grant To Help Streamline Precision & Cleanliness In Workshop & Studio, 2021

by Daric Gill

It is my pleasure to announce that I’ve been awarded a Greater Columbus Arts Council Support for Professional Artists: 2021 Individuals grant in the amount of $1,000. An increased need to work from home or a localized studio space has naturally led to an immediate need for new tools that can adapt to both workshop & home studio work life. This funding will help provide a safer, cleaner, and more precise studio + work environment. The Greater Columbus Arts Council has continued their support for the arts in many ways during this unprecedented time & I’m personally very moved by their efforts!

“Absolute: Thread” at the Columbus Museum of Art

It is my great pleasure to announce the long-awaited opening of Greater Columbus, an exhibition featuring works by myself and a small group of outstanding artists based in central Ohio. The exhibition represents a wonderful partnership between the Columbus Museum of Art and the Greater Columbus Arts Council. This is my second exhibition at the museum representing this generous award by the Arts Council. To say that I’m grateful is an understatement. Last year’s museum exhibition in conjunction with a 3-month artist residency in Dresden, Germany are among my most pleasurable achievements as an artist.

“The Circadian Machine” on display at the Columbus Museum of Art

A jury of distinguished arts professionals working outside the region awarded Individual Artist Fellowships to Molly Jo Burke & Nathan Gorgen, Nick Larsen,  Laura Larson, and Christopher Burk. Greater Columbus features their work alongside myself and Chaz O’Neil, who were selected for additional residencies in Dresden, Germany as part of the Arts Council’s Artist Exchange Program.

I have selected 5 pieces for the exhibit including the special debut of an interactive light and sound sculpture. Additionally, there are 3 paintings made during my residency in Germany and another larger painting with international ties to Cuba.

A reception has not been planned for the foreseeable future. However, the exhibition is open for in-person experience and we are actively adding new virtual programs for the public. The museum, art council, and I welcome each one of you to visit and support artwork that is culturally viable and globally relevant. Please enjoy the image gallery below and the in-person exhibition if you can.

Today is a good day! I am very pleased to announce that I’ve received a Support for Professional Artists: Individuals grant by the Greater Columbus Arts Council in the amount of $1750! This grant will go towards building an interactive light and sound sculpture slated for exhibition later this year. The sculpture will proudly be on display in the annual Greater Columbus exhibition at the Pizzuti Collection of the  Columbus Museum of Art. The exhibition will feature works made by myself and other recent recipients of the prestigious Visual Arts Fellowship.

My inclusion in this exhibition comes as an invitation after receiving an artist in residency to Dresden, Germany in 2019. I’m so excited to start working on it using this very gracious funding. Keep an eye out for updates as the work on this interactive piece progresses!

I am grateful for your support. Thank you!
