“Absolute: Allegory”, A Modern Fairy Tale

“Absolute: Allegory” is a visual poem; a softly lit bedtime story of the sun and moon, a meandering journey, an example of the importance of life beyond the current moment. A sprig of crimson winter berries hovers to the right of a 2-pronged branch. The left side of the stick weaves through the circular voids in the pastel background. Subdued yellow and blue geometry hint at the celestial themes of this piece. They are purposeful nods to the interplay between crescent and full moons, an eclipse and the full sun, and daylight and nighttime views through an arched window. Like most of the work in this series, this painting is a story within a story. Read on for more.

There is potency in a quiet voice when challenging a cacophony. My latest painting, “Absolute: Priority”, might be such a story. But in truth, I am still not sure if it is a soft candle emerging from a dark cave or a whispered yell squelched into polite submission. Perhaps it is meant to be a bit of both. “Absolute: Frequency” — A Painting Of Life’s Ups & Downs

My latest painting, Absolute: Frequency combines layer upon layer of opposing forces into one conversation. It depicts the oscillations in our lives: fortunate blessings and frustrating blights, life, and death, ups and downs, and seasonal changes. I’m exploring the relationships between how we feel change measured from the position of maximum equilibrium. Each element of this work slides between an amplitude of opposites.
