“The Headless Highwheeler”, acrylic and marker on reclaimed maple violin back.
NEW! The Headless Highwheeler is a ToeHead painted on a maple violin back. It was purchased by The Pumpkin Pedaler Foundation, an organization that promotes autism awareness. This piece will be awarded to the winner of their second annual fall cycling fundraiser. The Headless Highwheeler can be mounted on a cherry base or hung on the wall.
“The Pumpkin Pedaler Foundation was founded to promote autism awareness, education, and research through community events in Columbus. Our goal is to engage participants in the conversation and call them to action while providing an entertaining background.”
You can see one of my latest paintings in volume 34 of Studio Visit Magazine, along with a number of other talented artists. Studio Visit is a series of juried artist books with a national audience of art world professionals. You may also be familiar with their sister publication, New American Paintings(both produced by Open Studios Press). My painting, “Absolute: Contrive” can be found on p. 72 of their latest magazine.
“Absolute: Journey”, Oil paint on reclaimed oak. 12 1/4″ x 18 1/4″. 6.14.16.
The Absolute series of paintings has a tradition of exploring connections we have to each other through personal, yet universal narratives. We fall in love, have intimate struggles, find solace in nature, and navigate personal directions. In Absolute: Journey, I explore what it feels like when we long to capture sensory and emotional experiences in more tangible ways. This painting uses mood and symbolism to narrate the timeless tradition of placing these experiences into our memory. It is a visual description of the sensitive and very personal ways we reflect back on past moments; and how the past is held up to the torch of the future’s light.

Checking In At The OAL Spring Exhibit, Urban Arts Space
By Daric Gill
Exhibition duration: May 24 – July 9, 2016
After absorbing some sunshine for a bit at the Scioto Mile Riverside Park, I decided to take some time to absorb some culture at the OAL’s Spring Exhibition held at the OSU Urban Arts Space. Walking into the massive air-conditioned transformative space, I saw that my selected painting, “Absolute: Ignition” happens to greet patrons on their way in. It’s a relatively small painting, but prominently displayed and I was happy to see that it’s among the first pieces one sees upon entering.
The show is one of the best OAL exhibitions I’ve seen in years. Viewers can gaze upon sculptures, paintings, photos, ceramics, video & electronics work, among others. Below are a few handfuls of images that represents what the show has to offer. There are a few gallery shots that didn’t make this article, for that I apologize. If you have the chance, I strongly urge you to visit the show by July, 9 ’16. Greatness can be seen!
