“The Imagination Machine, Version 2”, is a motion-sensing light sculpture made from a reclaimed airplane wing and artist-programmed circuit boards. After re-envisioning the installation with a ground-up redesign, I am excited to announce that it has now joined the ranks of Warhol, Picasso, Gaugin, & Dali in the permanent collection at The Schumacher Gallery at Capital University. We’ve all seen photos of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, watched movies of the ancient Colosseum in Rome, & stared at the brush strokes in a poster of Vincent van Gogh’s “Starry Night”. But what do they sound like? I’m exceptionally happy to introduce, “The Memory Machine: Sound“,  a motion-activated sound sculpture that plays a collection of recordings, taken during my travels to some of the world’s most interesting places.

I’m super excited to announce that Issue 6 of ARTIST TALK MAGAZINE has been published and I am a featured artist with a 6-page spread! ARTIST TALK MAGAZINE is a quarterly magazine, originating from the United Kingdom and features Artists from all across the globe. It is a magazine for everyone and is written by Artists. The main focus of the magazine is to showcase Artists and to give them a chance to share, in more depth, the work they produce. It aims to showcase a wide range of work, inspired by many different influences.

So far, I’ve been really impressed with how slick the online version of the magazine is. You can view it online and purchase a physical copy of any issue here. I’ve already purchased a couple copies for myself and eagerly await their arrival.

How I Made “The Shy Machine”: An Interactive Kinetic Light Sculpture That Moves, Learns, & Reacts

The Shy Machine is a motion activated, sound reactive, environmentally adaptive, kinetic light sculpture. As its name would suggest, this robot is shy. The two halves of this 12-sided geometric form open and close depending on the noise levels in the environment. Vibrant lights pulse from within according to volume in the room. The insides are packed with electronic brains, lights, and sensors to make this happen. In this article, you can explore the build process from start-to-finish.
