I’m extremely pleased to announce that “Absolute: Totality” was accepted into the 73rd Ohio Annual Exhibit at the Zanesville Museum of Art. My piece is one of 59 works chosen for the exhibition by juror, Erin Shapiro, Curator at the Springfield Museum of Art, Springfield, Ohio.

It’s a real pleasure to announce that 2 of my paintings will be on display at George Billis Gallery in Los Angeles in May. I’ve been connected with the gallery for a couple years now, showing a few pieces in their Culver City, LA gallery as well as a few in their home gallery located in Chelsea, NYC.

A few days ago, The Absolutes opened at the Schumacher Gallery among giants like Warhol, Chagall, Nevelson, Picasso, and Calder. Also debuting with The Absolutes are 5 new sculptures made from small found objects used in my paintings; arranged much like how they’d exist during an in-studio painting session. Rich with symbols, each artwork feeds off the others in the exhibition. Now they reach into the three dimensions through these found-objects artifacts.
Flanking The Absolutes is a wide array of African, Inuit, Asian, and European artwork spanning over 2,000 years. All works are part of a massive donor-based museum collection.

The whole of something
The moment or duration of total obscuration of the sun or moon during an eclipse
On August 21, 2017 a collective population of millions stopped what they were doing and made their way outside. There was no national holiday to celebrate, no overly-hyped sports event, and no national tragedy to honor. For the first time in modern history, the United States saw a total eclipse whose shadow passed through 14 contiguous states. The last time an eclipse passed through the entire width of the country was 99 years ago. For the hours leading up to this 160 seconds, our society lived outside. We took notice of the sky. And in doing so, we took notice in ourselves. Absolute: Totality is an exploration into that grey area between being whole and being obstructed.
