Absolutes Chosen By OAC, To Be In Governor’s Office/Residence
by Daric Gill
I’m pleased to announce that my artwork has been selected as part of the 2015-2017 Ohio Governor’s Office and Residence Loan Program. All artwork in this program has been carefully chosen by the Ohio Arts Council and will be on extended loan for 2 years at either the Governor’s Office or his residence. The OAC will notify me upon installation as to where the artwork will reside for the next couple years.
“Since 1985 the OAC has assisted in placing artwork by Ohio artists and from the collections of Ohio museums and cultural institutions in the Governor’s Residence and throughout the Governor’s offices.” – OAC
As stated by the OAC, “The program provides Ohio citizens, legislators, State of Ohio employees and national and international guests the opportunity to view the artistic accomplishments of artists living and working in Ohio.” Though I’ve always remained an apolitical person, I find it quite an honor to be considered an exemplary artists representing Ohio to such a wide platform of people. This is an award that has significant impact on what artwork our public officials and policy-makers view on a daily basis; a privilege and responsibility that I take quite seriously.
If you are an artist living in Ohio, I strongly urge you to navigate to OAC. They list a plethora of opportunities for artists. They also have extremely valuable lists for artists which cover local and national grant opportunities, materials/supply distributors, gallery/festival opportunities, and many more collective resources.
