Eggaphant Gives

Introducing Eggaphant!

Part egg/part elephant, this little gal is almost always sunny side up. Her sweet disposition makes her the perfect odd-couple best friend to the more boisterous SquidSteak. Eggaphant’s floppy egg-ears give to a slight wagging whenever she’s tremendously happy. She has a particular sweet spot for marshmallows… just don’t get between her and her stash. Take my word for it.

Eggaphant was cut out of all reclaimed materials: 3/4″ baltic birch plywood from a previous project, a reclaimed steel rod (stem),  and soldered together copper rod/wires (tail). She stands off the wall a little less than an inch like a page from pop-up book. I call this style a “cut-out wall graphic”. Measuring 41″ from trunk to tail, Eggaphant makes for a fun display that really warms up her environment.

I’ve found that hanging work of this size is sometimes a little too cumbersome for a simple wire. Heavier or larger pieces are hung using a French cleat instead. This means that there’s  a long piece of wood with a beveled edge mounted on the back of the piece, acting as a grasping hanger. Mounted to the wall is another beveled piece of wood with the reciprocal angle, acting as something to hook to.
